Better integration for Billing software like clientexec. When I spoke to them they advised the issue is with DirectAdmin and if clients change their password it won't work.

May you clarify what do you have in mind?
If you change the password for the server that you manage - it's expected that anything that uses that password - cannot connect there anymore.
If you want to have a separation between user credentials and API - directadmin has login_keys for that, where you can create a login key with specific permissions and whitelisted IP address. This would remain active even if you change the password for the admin user.
