Email plus addressing with "-" as the extension character

Email plus addressing with "-" as the extension character.

This combines a common request for plus addressing (also called sub-addressing or tagged email) with the request that "-" rather than "+" be used.

Plus addressing was first invented, or at least popularized, in qmail. Originally the qmail author used the "+" character, but quickly realized that "-" made more sense. It made email addresses much more natural and intuitive, not very different from host names.

The + character is often prohibited by websites in email addresses. A hyphen would not be similarly prohibited as hyphens often occur in normal email addresses. Also the + character is rather obvious, while the - character is much more innocuous and less attention-grabbing.

(It would be a shame if DirectAdmin got plus addressing solely to keep up with Cpanel. This type of useful feature should be worth implementing on its own, regardless of what Cpanel does. And please don't copy Cpanel's use of +, as - is much more useful.)
